All our tips for visiting Miradouro Veu da Noiva in Madeira: access, parking, views, practical information.
Is a stop at Miradouro Veu da Noiva worth it?
Yes, it’s one of Madeira’s best-known viewpoints.
On the way to the Moniz natural pools, a small parking area allows you to stop off near the main road to admire the cliffs and the 35m-high waterfall that gushes down from them.
It’s not possible to get any closer, but the view from the platform is already stunning.
This is one of Madeira’s most beautiful viewpoints.

Parking and access
There are about twenty parking spaces.
But it’s very popular and easy to get to, so during the day you may have to wait for someone to leave to get a spot.
As this is a no-hike viewpoint, the cars leave fairly quickly.
There’s also a snack bar and souvenir store.
OUR TIPS FOR RENTING YOUR CAR AT Madeira
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Take a car with a good engine for hilly roads, but not too big for manoeuvring.
- There’s plenty of demand and few cars, so book early.
Best moment
The viewpoint is on the north coast.
To see the waterfall, look east; to see Seixal, look west.
For best photos of the waterfall, we recommend late afternoon light.
Depending on the position of the sun, some sunrises can be just as magical, if you don’t have the sun aligned.
View description
View of the waterfall
The main attraction of this viewpoint is to admire the waterfall that falls between the cliffs.
The waterfall seems to spring from the earth and fall directly into the ocean.
The name of the viewpoint, in Portuguese, means Bride’s Way, and, of course, there’s a legend around it: these are the tears of a young bride spurned by her future husband on the wedding day.
The waterfall is said to be 35m high.
The old access road
If you look closely, you’ll see a path dug into the rock.
Before 2008, it was possible to get close to the waterfall and even pass underneath it, but a landslide blocked access.
Too bad, it was supposed to be spectacular!
View of Seixal
From the parking spaces, you can also admire the west coast with the village of Seixal and its church tower standing out.
Seixal is where you’ll find the magnificent lava arch.

Nearest attractions
Plan your day by combining an attraction with this view. For example:
- Seixal’s natural swimming pools with rock arch (but steep slope and stairs to get there)
- Seixal’s black sand beach
- The rock formations of Ribeira da Janela
- Porto Moniz’s natural pools
It’s a package that can easily keep you busy for half a day.
We strongly recommend that you bring your swimsuits, as the experience at the natural pools is unforgettable.
