All our tips for visiting the Miradouro de Terra Grande in Madeira: access, parking, views, practical information.

Is a stop at the Miradouro de Terra Grande worth it?
Yes, it deserves a stop. It’s not the most classic view of Madeira, as it’s not by the sea, but it’s the one that amazed us the most. There’s a 180° view of several valleys, including the Ribiera Brava valley, which runs down to the sea, and terraced plantations.
Our photos don’t do it justice at all. This is one of Madeira’s most beautiful viewpoints.

Best moment
The vantage point offers panoramic views to the north, south and west.
It’s an ideal gift at any time of day.
You’ll find picnic tables here, a wonderful place to take a break and have lunch!

View description
It’s a shame, the last time we visited, there was no panoramic table. It’s an ideal place to set one up, with different valleys and peaks.
Take time to observe the ridges with their pointed peaks so typical of western Madeira.
Note: you can’t see Pico do Areiro from here.

You can admire the Serrra da Agua valley with its forests and plantations: poplars, willows, sugar cane, vines and fig trees… the land is fertile and cultivated.
Admire the terraced plantings. It’s easy to see that different plants are grown!

And to the south you can see the valley continue towards Ribeira Brava. It’s a narrow, fairly straight valley. You can see the sea in the background!
The curves are elegant, sculpted by the natural elements.
