Is a stopover at Miradouro das Flores worth it?

Absolutely. This is one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the island, with two perspectives: the direct view of Ilheu da Cal and its ridge, and the perspective of the south coast of Porto Santo and its 9km-long beach.
This is one of Porto Santo’s must-sees.

You can enjoy two very different views.

Ilheu da Cal

On one side to admire Ilheu da Cal in perfect alignment on its crest.
It’s a protected island, a natural reserve, south-west of Porto Santo.
Its cliffs are 150m high.
Historically, there were calcium oxide extraction mines. And today, this island is uninhabited and you need a permit to go on it.
Take the time to admire the shades of blue around the island.

South coast of Porto Santo

From another part of the Miradouro, you also have a completely unobstructed view of the island of Porto Santo. You can see the long golden sandy beach, over 9km long. And you can also see the series of peaks (see photo above).
