Cristiano Ronaldo statue

Before you even enter the museum, take a photo with the statue of the famous footballer! It overlooks the port. During our visit, many fans lined up to pose with him. Located opposite the entrance to the building, it depicts Cristiano Ronaldo in full execution of his famous pirouette, a gesture that has become his trademark when celebrating a goal. Champions League trophies

The CR7 Museum displays several Champions League trophies won by Cristiano Ronaldo during his career. To the right of our photo, you’ll see the 2016/2017 trophy. Nicknamed the “big-eared” cup, its original shape caught our attention. To the left of our photo, you’ll see the jersey of the 101 goals scored by the footballer with Real Madrid. He is still the top scorer in the history of the Champions League. Pretty impressive, isn’t it?
Autographed European Cup final jersey

This autographed jersey is the one Cristiano Ronaldo wore during the Euro 2016 final against France. A historic match for Portugal, who win their first title in an international competition. Although the player had to leave the field with an injury early in the match, he continued to play a crucial role from the bench. He accompanied the coach to lead his team to victory. We then searched for videos and stories of the meeting that revealed his leadership.

Admired and appreciated by his team-mates, the footballer was both a role model and a friend to the team. To celebrate his exceptional year, crowned by a Champions League victory, his partners were keen to show their appreciation. They personalized a jersey with their autographs, offering this symbolic gift to their charismatic leader.
Madeira Medal of Merit

In addition to his many sporting trophies, the soccer idol was also awarded Madeira’s Medal of Merit. The award underlines Ronaldo’s importance to his native island and the recognition of his achievements by the local authorities. It’s the highest decoration on the island. During our trip, we felt the pride of the Madeirans in their local hero!

To end your visit on a fun note, you’ll discover a chocolate statue of Cristiano Ronaldo! It was made by master chocolatier Jorge Cardoso, of Portuguese origin. We were impressed by the finesse of this work. We could even make out the player’s prominent veins, highlighted by the play of light.

Access by car and parking
You can reach the museum via Avenida Sá Carneiro, which runs alongside the port of Funchal. You won’t want to miss Praça CR7, also known as Praça do Mar. It houses an underground parking lot adjacent to the museum. It is open non-stop, except on Sundays. There is a charge, but the rates are reasonable for its location.

Public transport access
There are several bus stops in Rua Cónego Jerónimo Dias Leite close to the museum, including lines 01, 02, 04, 8, 24, etc. Find out more here.

The museum is open from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Best moment
The CR7 Museum is very popular. It’s one of Funchal’s main attractions! We advise you to visit it as soon as it opens in the morning, or just before it closes to avoid the crowds. Otherwise, it’s also open at lunchtime, when tourists are having their lunch. More generally, we recommend that you visit us outside the summer months (July and August) and school vacations.

Direction of visit
There’s no set direction, as this is a single, large exhibition room. Concentrate on the trophies that arouse your curiosity and interest!
Visiting with children
The visit will appeal to children who are fans of soccer or Cristiano Ronaldo. Your kids can be photographed right next to their idols! The museum also offers an augmented reality experience that lets visitors interact with the footballer. After the tour, head to the boutique for a souvenir!

Eating out
There are no catering facilities inside the museum. However, the CR7 Corner Restaurant adjoins the museum. It offers quick and simple dishes: pizzas, bowls, toasts, and burgers among others.
