We recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a pleasant place to stay with your family. This is one of the best options in Porto Santo. Here are its 3 main assets, in our opinion:
- facilities: a vast outdoor swimming pool with curves winding through palm tree lanes. In the relaxation area, you’ll find a second indoor swimming pool, a gym and massage rooms.
- its location: right on the seafront, the hotel offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and direct access to Porto Santo Beach, one of the island’s must-see activities!
- its private beach: enjoy moments of relaxation under the island sun! The sandy beach is equipped with sun loungers and parasols. We tried to swim, but the waves were rough!

Is the Hotel Pestana in Porto Santo worth it? Our review
In our opinion, this establishment is an excellent choice for a pleasant stay with family or friends in Porto Santo. It offers an all-inclusive formula that will suit travelers seeking relaxation and tranquility. No need to worry about meals! It is also very well equipped with swimming pools, a children’s playground and restaurants. What’s more, we really liked its private beach. At dusk, enjoy a gentle stroll along Porto Santo Beach to watch the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean!
Decoration and atmosphere
The atmosphere at the Hotel Pestana Porto Santo Beach is both warm and homely. It was a real change of scenery! The decor perfectly evokes the atmosphere of the islands, with buildings featuring colorful facades and rough-hewn wooden furniture. We were also impressed by the wide avenues lined with palm trees and tropical plants.
The hotel staff are smiling and welcoming, adding to the friendly atmosphere. As soon as we arrived, the reception area gave us an idea of the hotel’s style. It was equipped with a large blue sofa that invited you to relax. The wood-worked walls gave the room character and a more traditional feel.

The room
Our room was soberly decorated in shades of white, beige and brown, reminiscent of the islands. We liked the wooden furniture, the picture on the wall and the nicely folded towels on the bed when we arrived. Once switched on, the lights created a cocooning atmosphere.
The bed was really big and comfortable. We slept very well here after a day full of exploration! Among the amenities in the room, we found a kettle with tea and instant coffee bags on the desk. As you can see from our photos, the real highlight of our room was the balcony.
From our little perched terrace, we could see the large organic swimming pool, the palm tree lanes and the housing opposite. It’s a great place to spend time with family and friends!

The bathroom
In our room, the bathroom had a bathtub, which was very nice to relax in after a busy day. Castelbel Porto hygiene products were on hand for an extra touch of luxury. You’ll also find slippers for added comfort. The room was quite large, functional and practical, with everything we needed for our stay.

The breakfast
The hotel’s breakfast takes the form of an extensive continental buffet with a wealth of sweet and savory options. We appreciated the fact that some local specialities were on offer, such as Pastel de Nata and Bolo de Arroz. The selection of sweet products included: pastries, cakes, pancakes, a range of breads, muesli, fresh and dried fruit, jams and spreads, and much more!
Savory dishes included bacon, sausages, fresh and cooked vegetables, boiled eggs and cold cuts. Offering an all-inclusive formula, the hotel’s culinary offering is highly diverse. You can help yourself to as much as you like. The company favors quantity over quality. We had breakfast on the outdoor terrace facing the pool to enjoy the first rays of the sun!

Swimming pools and beach
The resort boasts a magnificent outdoor swimming pool, topped by several small bridges and surrounded by huge palm trees. From our room, we could contemplate it! A second pool, smaller but covered, is hidden in the relaxation area.
Some accommodations even have their own small private pools. If you’re looking for an exceptional getaway for several people, why not opt for a pool villa?
The establishment’s main asset is its direct access to Porto Santo Beach. Soak up the island sun on the hotel’s private beach! We loved taking a short siesta there, comfortably installed on a deckchair, sheltered by a parasol. We were lulled by the sound of the waves!
Equipment and common areas
In addition to the pools, the hotel boasts a number of facilities that are sure to please:

The restoration
The hotel’s pool bar is a nice touch. It’s made of wood, which gives it a more traditional style that we appreciated. Drinks are included with the all-inclusive wristband.
The establishment offers a wide range of catering services. Dine at the self-service buffet or in one of the hotel’s 4 themed restaurants:

Hotel Pestana is located on the beach of Porto Santo, a Portuguese island in the Madeira archipelago. The exact address is: Estrada Regional 111 Nº 120 – Sitio Do Campo De Baixo.

How to get there?
Located halfway between the ferry landing and Ponta da Calheta, the hotel is right in the middle of Porto Santo Beach. If you’ve come to the island by ferry, we recommend renting a car to reach your accommodation more easily and visit the area more freely. The route is extremely simple. Just follow the main road along the seafront, then turn left after Campo de Baixo.
If you flew in, you’ll need to take the ER111 down to Vila Baleira, then turn right towards Ponta da Calheta. Cab and bus services are fairly limited in Porto Santo, as the island is small.

Free private parking is available for guests. Several parking areas are available throughout the resort for added convenience.
For people with reduced mobility
