Our opinion:<\/h3>\n\n<p>Yes, the Madeira Story Center is well worth a visit. This is <a href=\"https:\/\/madeiralovers.com\/en\/best-museums-funchal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one of the best museums in Funchal!<\/a> Its themes range from the island&#8217;s volcanic origins to pirate attacks and centuries-old traditions. On its roof, we discovered a terrace and a restaurant, offering views over downtown Funchal. Several bus lines (31, 31A, 32, 42) serve the &#8220;Rua dos Profetas&#8221; stop, just a 3-minute walk from the museum. The alleys are narrow and cobbled, some even one-way. Instead, opt for Parking Santa Luzia, located outside the historic center. It is open from 6am to 10pm on weekdays. The museum is a 15-minute walk from this parking lot down Rua 5 de Outubro to Old Funchal.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Useful tips: duration, schedules, eating&#8230;<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best time to visit<\/h3>\n\n<p>Preferably outside the summer season (July, August) and school vacations. This way, you can avoid the busy periods in Funchal. The museum remains little visited, however, as tourists generally prefer outdoor activities. Head to the back of the room on the right to buy your museum tickets. Then take the elevator to the exhibition area. We recommend that you take a tour of the room, taking time to stop and look at the information that particularly interests you. To round off your visit in style, join us on the rooftop where you can enjoy the view. We particularly liked the section dedicated to famous explorers, including the reference to Christopher Columbus, who lived in <a href=\"https:\/\/madeiralovers.com\/en\/que-faire-porto-santo-visiter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Porto Santo<\/a>.
